Great Letter, Dov

Dov Weinstein had a great letter in today's NYTimes:

In "Hamas at the Helm" (editorial, Feb. 2), you argue that Israel should relinquish the $50 million a month in tax receipts it collects for the Palestinian Authority because that money belongs to the Palestinians. But as the Palestinians have chosen to be governed by terrorists who call for the destruction of Israel, this proposition is preposterous.

While Israel has agreed to pass on $54 million in taxes collected on behalf of the Palestinians, the Israeli housing minister was right to say that monthly transfers would stop after Hamas formed a new government (news article, Feb. 6).

Would you suggest that America return to Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda the funds it has seized over the past years? After all, the money was theirs.
