Prof. Ozer Schield z"l

The College of Judea & Samaria (CJS) in Ariel announces with deep sadness the passing of Prof. Ozer Shield (ז"ל), one of the institution's founders and its first president (from 1994-1995).

Yigal Cohen-Orgad, Chairman of the College's Executive Committee, said that Prof. Shield played a vital role in the school's early academic development and deserves great credit for charting the path that has led to the institution's remarkable growth in recent years.

A distinguished researcher in the field of psychology and a member of Israel's Council of Higher Education, Prof. Shield served as Rector and President of the University of Haifa prior to joining the school in Ariel.

The College administration, faculty and student council mourn the loss of Prof. Shield and express their sympathy to Prof. Shield's wife and family.

I knew him well and worked with him on several national projects. He belonged to Techiya, was an intellectual, had a sense of humor and was quite practical.

May his memory be blessed.
