The Olive Tree Scheme recruitment for 2007/8 - 2010 class.
The Olive Tree, in a nutshell, is a British scheme offering full BA and BSc scholarships at City University, London, to 12 Israelis and Palestinians. The scholarhips include: 3 years of tuition fees; 6 flights; full accomodation costs (1st year in dormitories, 2nd and 3rd year in flats in London); and bursaries of £250 to £375 a month. I know I have grumbled to all of you about the program's political and academic weaknesses, and some of them still stand; however, first, it's a matter of taste and personal ambitions, and second, the program had been been continually improving in the past two years, and it looks like its set to become better with each new group.
City University is considered to be a good place to study business studies, engeneering and some of the social sciences. It's not bad for law studies; and it also has a new International Politics department, and it's building a new Journalism school. The BA Journalism courses are in my experience very un-critical and sometimes even "dumbed down", but they give you some valuable skills and City is extremely well connected in the British media industry.
