Kimche Klunks - One, Two, Three

David Kimche is one of Israel's more liberal-loose persons.

Liberal in terms of political orientation and loose in terms of his thinking.

He brought Jimmy Carter to a public & press conference recently, the only Israeli organization to host him even after the Government shunned contacts with him.

He had an op-ed published in the International Herald Tribune, that bastion of the loony left and the minuscule moonies of Israel.

He makes several points.

One.

The three-state solution envisions Israel, the West Bank, which is governed by the Palestinian Authority, and Gaza, now ruled by Hamas, as separate states. The Palestinians would never accept such a plan. Historically they are one people and cannot be divided artificially

Okay, so he doesn't include my four-state analysis but notice how the fact that the Pals. will simply not accept the plan sinks it. If the Israelis did that? They'd be pressured, ostracized, demonized, etc.

Two.

We simply have no choice but to talk to our enemies

We also could simply combat them, offset them, stalemate them. And as if we haven't been talking with them for more than 40 years, or even 60 if we include Golda Meir's trip in disguise to see Abdallah in 1947-48. All this talking with them has led nowhere.

Three.

There will always be some Palestinians who oppose reaching an agreement with Israel. There are also elements in Israel who oppose negotiating with Palestinians.

Great. Kimche creates a moral equivalence between Pals. who oppose, and they do that by killing civilians and Israelis who oppose who build houses and schools and plant and have industry.
