Uri Avnery?!

I opened up the November 6 edition of the International Herald Tribune and there, on the opinion page, 14, there's a whole page devoted to how the US election is viewed by the world.

And who represents Israel?

Its Foreign Minister?

Opposition leader?

University academic?

Outstanding philosopher?

Religious figure?

Political activist?

I could go on but you're waiting, right?

It was Uri Avnery, described as "founder of the Israeli peace movement Gush Shalom".

Who is it in the IHT's editorial board that promotes one of the most negligible, radical political figures on the current (and past) Israel scene?

UPDATE

Here's Avnery explaining how he managed to get in:-

Immediately after Obama's victory, the International Herald Tribune (the world-wide edition of the New York Times) asked ten people around the globe for comments. All were published on Thursday, November 6, 2008.

So, who is that person responsible?
