Travelling Between Shchem and Ramallah, Then and Now

This past Shabbat, a group of bikers came in to visit the area of Shiloh and they left word that if we wanted to see pictures of their visit in the area, that we could go to a forum site and look.

So, I did and I found this picture:-

It shows the bikers coming up from the north, from Shchem (Nablus for those unfamiliar with the original Hebrew name of the city), ascending the hair-turn/s-curve road that is rarely used nowadays, passing by Lubban A-Sharaqiyah and coming up towards Sinjil, on the way south towards Ramallah. That was the road we used to drive along until the new Highway 60 became the favored path.

I looked at it and remembered a similar picture.

That picture was taken almost 100 years ago. In 1913 to be exact.

Here it is:-

Same location.

Different motor vehicle.
