Our Hummus Won (BDS Loses)

Remember the attempt to boycott Israeli hummus?

Well, it's reported

Fans of Sabra-brand hummus scored a victory today in Princeton University’s showdown over chick pea dip.

Undergraduates voted 1,014 to 699 to reject a referendum that would have asked the Ivy League school to offer alternative brands of hummus in the school’s food court and campus stores, student government officials said.

The vote, which drew international attention, was sparked by the Princeton Committee on Palestine, a student group that alleged the university’s hummus supplier had ties to a company that supports the Israeli military. The food fight on the 7,500-student campus grew into a face-off over Middle East politics when Tigers for Israel, a pro-Israel student group, campaigned for students to reject the referendum.

Well, wipe on* then!

By the way, Debbie Schlussel mentioned this brand four years ago.

________
* In Hebrew slang, to 'wipe' or 'clean up' is to take a piece of pitta and swish it around in a plate of hummus to scoop it up like in this report:-

However, faithful to my plan for the journal, I chose a hummus with tahini, as in the other restaurants reviewed here; I paid for it 70 baht. Hummus is made from mashed chickpeas and spices; it is a popular food all across the Middle East. Being a dip, it is scooped with a pita bread, an action than in Hebrew slang is referred to as "cleaning;"
