Naughty USA - Violating Laws of Combat

Well, laws of combat that Israel must abide by.

According to the NYT (k/t=LBD), this is what happened:

In addition to Bin Laden, three men were killed during the 40-minute raid, one believed to be his son and the other two his couriers...A woman was killed when she was used as a shield by a male combatant, the official said, and two others wounded. “No Americans were harmed,” Mr. Obama said. “They took care to avoid civilian casualties [sic]. After a firefight, they killed Osama bin Laden and took custody of his body.”

You noticed that a civilian was killed.

And, according to this account, Bin-Laden seems to have either surrendered or was overcome and was still alive after the firefight. If so, he may have been executed post facto.

Is that the proper fulfillment of the laws of combat?

Or is it just Israel that is held to such a standard of moral behavior?

Come on, don't accidentally attack the US with these comparisons. The US have defended Israel against Goldstone and the UN.

I am sure they all knew where he was. Osama/obama has done this as part of his re-election campaign. both Clinton and Bush 2 had the opportunities and refused at the last moment.

The NYT in the same story also said this: "When American operatives converged on the house on Sunday, Bin Laden “resisted the assault force” and was killed in the middle of an intense gun battle, a senior administration official said, but details were still sketchy early Monday morning."

Which version is correct?

B: it was done accidentally. I am happy and proud that the US helps Israel and I as a citizen of Israel have to help my country as well and that's why I pointed the problem, as with the many civilians killed by US drones.

B,

It ought to be obvious it's not the U.S. but the worldwide double standard that's being criticized here.

For comparison: I cheered on Russia's hammering of Muslim Chechnya and at the same time lambasted the Russian government for condemning much less serious retaliations on Israel's part.

When we kill our enemies--and well do they deserve it!--let the other nations kindly shut up.
